Shore Excursion Royal

Promotes, explains and sells shore excursion tours and packages to guests onboard the vessels by
performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean
International’s Gold Anchor Standards, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environmental, and
safety policies.
Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions at shore excursion venues
and
throughout the ship.
1. In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in
Excellence , each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at
all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow
shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew areas.
2. Works the assigned Shore Excursion desk shift. Discusses individually with guests tour
descriptions. Promotes and sells tours based on needs and cross-sells or up-sells tour
packages while achieving revenue goals. Provides guest services with regard to tour
sales, refunds, complaints, and general port and ship information.
3. Prepares and submits on a timely basis, all required reports. Prepares all reports
utilizing the computer equipment. Becomes familiar with all departmental reporting.

4. Operates point of sale (POS) computer terminals. Provides training to new staff
members.
5. Coordinates tender operations with the marine departments.
6. In conjunction with the Explorations! Manager, meets with tour operators while in port.
Reconciles sale of tour tickets with operators and coordinates payment with the Chief
Purser or via Miami. Reviews quality issues, future operations and previous
cruise comments.
7. Monitor tour operators on a rotating basis in order to constantly review quality control.
Prepares report to the Explorations! Manager.
8. Inspects new shore excursions in ports as directed by Shoreside Excursion Department.
9. Participates in maintaining shipboard shore excursion video(s). May rewrite scripts or
work with Video Programmers to shoot footage as needed.
10. May conduct scheduled tour presentations to guest audiences. Presents tour descriptions
to promote participation by selling, cross selling and up-selling tour packages to meet
guest’s needs while achieving revenue goals.
11. Assumes the responsibilities of the Explorations! Manager in their absence.
12. Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities
as required.
13. Performs related duties as required. This position description in no way states or implies
that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this
position. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties
assigned by their supervisor or management.




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a customer contact related position with working

Contract length: 29 weeks on/up to 60 days off
