Portrait Artists needed to travel the world! As the Photo Department's Portrait Artist, you will be responsible for capturing images of guests and creating, presenting and selling premium photography services. The standalone portrait studio will cater to weddings and lifestyle portraiture both onboard the ship and shoreside at agreed locations. In addition to creating high-quality images, the ideal candidate will also be comfortable in the capacity of a salesperson.

Our ships are hotel environments and require a neat appearance, good hygiene, friendly attitude and above all, outstanding service. All crew members on-board our vessels are also subject to additional safety duties, drills, and training. Our Photo team works seven days a week, up to 70 hours a week. Shifts may last throughout the day, or may be split into morning and evening shifts. You will earn a base wage, with opportunity for bonus wages for achieving sales targets. Contract periods are for approximately six months, followed by a one-month vacation.

Travel to and from your home country is provided by the cruise line, provided you successfully complete your contract. We require that you own or purchase a professional level DSLR and flash.

* The Perspectives Portrait Artist is responsible for the quality control of all finished photo products.


* Images to be captured in RAW Format and saved on external hard drive.


* The Perspectives Portrait Artist must work together with the Photo Manager to maximize the sales.


* Responsible for maintaining of all equipment and working areas. Regularly clean and test cameras and lenses to ensure full working conditions.


* Participate in daily desk hours at various locations around the ship, to promote Perspectives program.


* During Embarkation process – to host a display and promotional desk at an agreed location, for new passengers to learn about the program. Slide show to be playing at Welcome presentation.


* Shoot wedding/vow renewal or Quinceañeras ceremonies as required.


* Shoot officer board photos and other onboard requests.


* Maintain equipment and studio inventory and provide Photo Manager end of cruise counts.


* Receive and unload stores and process paperwork as required.


* To work within the ship’s team structure and complete required safety training and security duties as determined by the ships officers and the Photo Manager.


* Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. (Full job description will be provided at time of interview.)

Shipboard employment is quite unique. You will be part of a team, working and living together in close quarters. While the Portrait Artists will operate a standalone portrait stuido, they remain an essential part of the Photo Team onboard and will share responsibilities when it comes to the overall operation and desk hours.

Cabin accommodations are shared by two individuals, and include twin beds/linens, bathroom, closets, desk, and TV/DVD player. Crew facilities include: 24-hour gym, bar, game/recreation room, internet room, laundry and mess hall with prepared meals served four times daily.

As a Photographer, you are also entitled to limited access to guest facilities on the ship, including: lounges, bars, restaurants, gym, spa, open deck and show venues. Staff privileges vary from ship to ship. Our ships sail on itineraries throughout North America, the Caribbean and Europe.

You are welcome to explore the ports of call during your time off, provided your work schedule allows it. Candidates must pass a medical exam and drug screen, possess a valid passport, and be able to obtain the necessary visa(s) or credentials.




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • Minimum High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required
  • Bachelors Degree or foreign equivalent from recognized educational institution is preferred
  • One (1) year experience in portrait photography and sales is required
  • Previous studio work experience preferred
  • Must be able to properly handle photographic studio equipment; including lights, backdrops and safety equipmen
  • Experience using Lightroom, Adobe PhotoShop and ProSelect are require
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in typing and PC software skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, Photography software, etc
