Pool Monitor

All swimming activity must be supervised by a mature and conscientious adult who understands and knowingly accepts responsibility for the well-being and safety of those in his or her care.

Business Acumen

* Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to any safety concerns


* Is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation procedures, in order to assist guests and crewmembers with enquiries.


* Performs related duties as required. This Job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this position. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

 

Contributes to Business Performance

* Pool monitor will solely be responsible for monitoring the pool during daylight hours and during any organized, evening poolside event.

* Pool Monitor can be requested to cleaning duties on the Pool Deck when there is no guest around or the pool is closed

* Constantly scan assigned working areas/zones on open pool deck to ensure guests are using the facilities in a safe manner and that children around the pool area are monitored by their parents.

* Intervene to stop risky behavior or rule infractions that are done by guests.

* If Pool Monitor is unable to deal with a situation, he/she should escalate it to Housekeeping Supervisor responsible for the pool

* Respond to emergencies and facilitate water rescue both on the open deck and Solarium.

* Monitor children on open deck, to ensure that they are safe and act according to the Pool area rules as displayed next to the pools.

* Have knowledge of AED locations and carry an Emergency phones at all times.

* Maintains current knowledge of the ship’s regular events and special functions by reviewing all available data, including the daily newsletter, in order to provide guests with accurate information to answer questions.

* Celebrity Cruises expects each shipboard employee to consistently exemplify the principles of WAYS.  

* When in guest area, greets the guests and introduces him/herself, and offer assistance if required

* When pool monitor see a child unaccompanied at the pool, he needs to approach the child in friendly manner. Ask the child where his/her parents are and guide the child away from pool area to his/her parents. Explain to the parents that children cannot be at the swimming pool unaccompanied. Explain to parents where the Personal floating devices are located for children. It’s important that the Pool Monitor point out that even with Personal floating devices  on, children still have to be accompanied/supervised by parents

* Provides personalized assistance to guests by following the WAYS standards of service.

 

Demonstrates Passion, Drive and Energy

 

Each housekeeping shipboard employee reports to their workstation assignment on time and properly groomed and dressed according to standards.  This includes a clean uniform, nametag, and any other uniform related items and WAYS pin

 

Cross Team Collaboration

 

* Notifies management of any unruly children or adults.
* Or any safety related concern
Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.

It is every employee’s responsibility to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and Crew member areas.




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • Minimum one to two years previous experience in an upscale hotel, resort or cruise line (shipboard experience preferred), in a similar position
  • Certification in life saving techniques
  • Certification in first aid
  • Ability to apply customer service skills, according to Company policy, when interacting with guests and co-workers
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred

Contract length: 30 weeks on / up to 60 days off
