Piano&Violin Teacher Melodica Music Institute

Ensure the effective teaching of Music to enable students to develop their skills and knowledge, act as a professional role model to students and parents of students and contribute to the development of Melodica.

• Plan and prepare lessons (lesson plans) in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabus.
• Ensure current examination syllabi are being taught in their entirety. Keep up-to-date with changes.
• Review the class schedule before every shift and prepare for the lessons.
• Ensure understanding and compliance with all exam syllabi.
• Keep up-to-date with the teaching materials offered by the school such as books and syllabi. Ensure understanding and compliance of all teaching materials used by the school.
• Identify students’ needs and set short and long term goals to students. Motivate and encourage students to achieve their musical goals.
• Teach music theory, aural skills, sight reading and practical techniques to students. Communicate musical concepts and instructions clearly.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies, methods, tools and approaches and tailor to student’s different learning needs, learning styles and preferences.
• Demonstrate high standards of teaching thereby impacting on the learning and achievement of students and, as such, be a positive role model to students.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment where students are eager to attend lessons and practice. Motivate students and encourage progress. Classes should be motivational.
• Maintain a happy, fun, safe and supporting class room environment. Classroom doors must be kept closed during lessons.
• Follow classroom rules and maintain class control and safety when dealing with young students. All students must be accompanied to and from the Front Desk area.
• The teacher is responsible for the student whilst the student is in their classroom this includes damage to all equipment and furniture. Report any damage to the Front Desk.
• Raise standards of student attainment and achievement. Accountable for student progress and development.
• Ensure a diverse range of style of music is promoted and that students can explore a variety of music genres.
• Encourage and prepare students to take part in international examinations.
• Participate in school camps (Summer and Winter for example) as required.
• Encourage and prepare students for recitals, competitions, concerts and any other musical event or activity, within or out with Melodica.
• Encourage and prepare students to participate in school activities such as ensembles, choir, student band etc.
• Continuously improve the quality of learning, teaching and development of music throughout the school.

Continually seek out new teaching techniques and strategies.
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary music development theories and methods. Keep abreast of new concepts and techniques.
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge of and awareness of international examination board requirements.
• Attend and actively participate in all internally or externally-provided training courses, workshops and meetings as required.
• Continuously update professional knowledge and expertise, as appropriate, and keep up-to-date with developments in teaching practice and teaching methodology specifically in music.
• Remain open to learning new musical instruments.
• Contribute to a culture of team work that is conducive to learning and development, friendly, open to critical feedback and sharing of information.

• Continuously assess student’s ability and provide feedback on progress to students and parents of students. Be available to discuss concerns and achievements.
• Invite parents of students into the classroom, 5 minutes before the end of class, to discuss student progress and homework given.
• Complete and maintain Progress Notes for each student, after each class, using the correct format and recommend syllabus. Create Report Cards as required.
• Keep records of student’s performance. Liaise with parents of students regarding the progress of students whenever there is a concern.
• Interact and collaborate well with students, parents of students, colleagues and management. Maintain positive relationships with all.
• Undertake all student assessments to the best of your ability, ensuring all assessment forms are fully completed after each assessment session including the recommended syllabus of study for the student.
• Act as a communication channel between students, parents of students and management.
• Build powerful, positive and trust-based relationships with students and parents of students from all backgrounds.
• Discuss any student concerns, teaching concerns or resource requirements with the immediate supervisor or line manager.

Actively participate in all school events including meetings, parent’s evenings, information days, concerts, recitals, workshops, school productions, school promotional events, competitions, mock examinations, etc.
• Actively participate in all internal school events including teachers band, teachers’ orchestra, teachers’ symphony, teachers’ ensemble, teachers’ performance demonstrations, teacher concerts or any other musical event.
• Encourage students to participate in all school events.

Represent Melodica, to all external parties, in a positive way. Ensure confidentiality of all sensitive information (personal information as well as company information).
• Adhere to and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and local labour law.
• Ensure all task deadlines, set by Management, are met and all requested documents or work are submitted on time.

Forward all student queries, with regards to class scheduling and class availability, to the Front Desk.
• Always maintain a professional student-teacher relationship.
• Always speak in English to colleagues and students. English is the official language of Melodica.
• Any other administration work as required. Emails must be reviewed and actioned daily.
• Respect and work closely with all colleagues and immediate supervisor/line manager.
• Any other task as assigned by the Management. Follow all instructions assigned by the immediate supervisor/line manager.

 




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • At least 1 year of music teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree [certificate/diploma should be attested in UAE Embassy from their home country]
  • Age: not more than 50 y/o
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Music or similar qualification.
  • Teacher training or teaching certification is an advantage.

Contract length: 3 years /30 days paid annual leave per year

Salary: 7000AED
