Chief Housekeeper

Ultimate responsible for ensuring guests satisfaction by delivering a world class in-suite service and the
highest standards of cleanliness, consistently and effectively reflecting the luxurious nature of Regent
Seven Seas Cruises/or Oceania Cruises.
Maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness in all Officers and Crew cabins, as well as all crew areas.
Maintaining cleanliness of all indoor areas of the ship and ensuring high standard of laundry operation.

To ensure cleanliness and provide high quality and luxurious service to the guests and crew by:


Ensuring that all Housekeeping areas are properly staffed, equipped (up to required par levels) and set up; and that all pantries and lockers are clean /stocked at all times.
Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of all guests´ cabins at all times, in accordance with Regent
Company’s policy and procedures (constantly supervising the cleaning of cabins, inspecting cabins on a regular basis, notifying any maintenance issue, etc).
Ensuring that passageways are maintained in accordance with Company standards.
Following up on guests´ special requests (i.e. more pillows, lifejacket, different set up, etc), gift orders, ensuring effective and prompt services at all times.
Ensuring that the Housekeeping team is well trained in all their functions, follow departmental procedures and company guidelines to ensure consistency of service.
Ensuring that the laundry operates in accordance with ship’s policy.
Ensures that crew areas are maintained in conjunction with Staff Captain, Chief Engineer and Human
Resources Manager.

Implements strategies to achieve service goals in conjunction with the General Manager and Food and Beverage Manager.
Ensuring that the vessel is ready to receive guests prior to the start of each embarkation.
Communicating effectively to ensure that the Housekeeping team reflects high service values at all times.
Ensuring public areas (lounges, corridors, public toilettes, guest’s launderettes, etc) are always tidy, clean and in order, by constantly walking the ship.
Conducting regular inspections of suites and public areas, crew cabins and crew areas, focusing on details applying corrective actions when necessary.


To maximize departmental resources to achieve an efficient operation of the Department by:


Conducting performance appraisals, monitoring and reviewing of individual performances, setting
objectives, following up, identifying skills shortages and providing feedback, always seeking the assistance of the HR Manager.
Liaising with the HR Manager in regards to personnel issues, so they can be effectively dealt with, aiming to continuously improve the service offered (i.e. staff planning, skills shortages, service standards and other training).
Maximizing staff productivity through inspirational leadership, creating a positive and open and
atmosphere in the Housekeeping Department that will impact on individual and departmental
performance.
Providing training and guidance for the Housekeeping staff and conducting employee meetings to
maximize communication.
Making the best use of manpower by managing the hours worked by each crewmember and monitoring the financial impact on the business, ensuring each employee works according to his – her contracted hours, completing all relevant paperwork and finding alternative solutions in case of an anticipated increase in overtime, in order to fully comply with Company’s policies and procedures at all times.
Mentoring the Assistant Housekeeper, utilizing effective delegation and preparing him/her for taking over the Housekeeper responsibilities if necessary.


To ensure full compliance with USPH regulations by:


Training, supervising and applying corrective actions in regards to Public Health programs within the
department.
Scheduling and ensuring periodic deep cleaning for all areas.
Ensuring the current Policy in accordance with Company’s procedures and legal guidelines in all
Housekeeping areas are adhered to (i.e. cockroach traps, temperature logbook, three bucket system,
chemical labeling, etc.).
Ensuring all equipment in all Housekeeping areas is in good working condition.


Guaranteeing the safety of all crewmembers by providing:


Tools in working conditions.
Protective clothing and equipment when necessary.
Training and guidance on how to use and keep them; to effectively perform their jobs.

Operational


To keep General Manager and Food and Beverage Director promptly and fully informed of all relevant
matters.
To ensure confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
To achieve the primary objectives of the position and comply with the above mentioned accountabilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with company’s policies.
To project a favorable image of Regent Seven Seas Cruises/or Oceania Cruises, to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas.
To comply with the safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures at all times,
participating in all relevant meetings and training sessions.
To observe and enforce uniform standards according to company’s policies and procedures.
To efficiently perform all other duties as requested by shipboard management or shore side management.


Training & Development


To participate in all mandatory trainings without excuse.
Training/ developing present & potential Asst. Housekeepers to their full potential following provided
programs.
Training HK personnel in regards to Public Health programs.
Training HK personnel in regards to product knowledge, machinery handling and maintenance.
Training HK personnel in regards to their day to day duties/ tasks with assistance of Asst. Housekeepers.
Assisting to HR Manager, providing HR related trainings upon provided topics.
Assisting to Safety Officer, providing Safety “On the job trainings”, upon provided topics.
Conducting necessary trainings with Linen Keeper/ Asst. Linen Keeper pertaining to Uniforms/ Linen
upkeep & ordering/ discarding of the same.
Assisting to Laundry Master with his trainings.


Financial


Responsible for all HK linen orders, general uniform orders, HK equipment orders.
Responsible to maintain given par levels, being at the same time aware of given budgets.
Responsible to discuss any budget issues, suggestions with Food and Beverage Director and when needed shore-side management.


Safety Responsibilities


Participates in safety drills, according to instructions.
Complies with vessel’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
Must be in possession of valid STCW certificates.

Manuals (SMS, VOM, USPH, HKOM).




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • A minimum of five years related experience in the hospitality trade as an Executive Housekeeper in a first class hotel.

Contract length: 4 months on / 2 months off

Salary: starting 3500 $
