Assistant Photo Manager Norwegian Cruise Line

Reporting directly to the Photo Manager, the Assistant Photo Manager is the supporting role to the PM trained in all aspects relating to the Photo Manager. The primary function of the APM covers the following:
Responsible for the day to day running of the department sales operations (in the Photo Gallery and any other associated sales areas). The Assistant Photo Manager also assists the Photo Manager in all areas of team development and training, developing and introducing new products and initiatives, ensuring consistent delivery of all Photo Department products and services (as per Standard Operating Procedures and known best practices) and driving revenue and guest satisfaction in all department areas to achieve budgeted goals, with some involvement in day to day administration.
The Assistant Photo Manager is also expected to be able to cover all of the Photo Manager and Photo Lab Technicians duties during absences (conferences, illness etc.).
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Photo Manager this role requires overseeing the entire Photo Department sales operations and assisting with the running of all daily operations to ensure both revenue and guest satisfaction is maximized in order to exceed budgeted goals.
• Ensure customer service is always of the highest level, through monitoring, training, coaching and developing the team, and leading by example.
• Ensure image quality is maximized through feedback on Photographer performance and final print quality to Photo Manager and Lab Technician on a daily basis
• Ensure all photographs are displayed / sorted in photo binder system in a timely manner, and ensure the photo display panels / binders are kept neat, organized and presentable at all times, as per Standard Operating Procedures
• Ensure Digital Kiosks are operating and areas are cleaned daily
• Manage activity sports area support manning (Breakaway class vessels)
• Develop, implement and maintain all retail displays
• Maintain sufficient retail and consumable supply inventories in the Photo Gallery at all times, accurately report inventory levels on a per cruise basis, complete Inventory paperwork for submission to corporate office, and handle all required inventory movements onboard (using MXP)
• Work with the Photo Manager to develop an effective sales and promotion strategy each cruise
• Prepare all Freestyle Daily advertising and other required promotional material in coordination with the Product of the Day schedule and the overall sales and promotion strategy agreed with the Photo Manager
• Prepare and maintain all department signage, and ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with current corporate branding guidelines
• Charge all pre-paid and house account charges in a timely and accurate manner each cruise
• Process all outsourced retail orders in a timely manner, and follow up on any guest requests/customer service issues referred from shore-side• Check company emails daily, responding when required in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct educational seminars for guests to promote Photo Department services and products
• Take ownership of and handle effectively any guest requests (onboard or shore-side referrals), complaints and questions (photo department and general shipboard issues) at any time
• Regularly review service procedures, and proactively find ways to improve service levels and prevent customer service issues from arising
• Deliver training sessions and use on-the-job coaching skills to continuously drive revenue and guest satisfaction scores beyond budgeted goals
• Ensure continuous adherence of the whole team to company uniform, grooming standards and Platinum Standards & Impressions through monitoring, coaching and training as required
• Monitor team timesheets for accuracy and compliance with company regulations
• Photograph any events as requested by the Photo Manager
• Attend drills and training sessions as required, prepare and submit weekly Photo Department drill excuse list as per the working schedule and ensure staff attendance as required
• Work with the Photo Manager to develop a positive, enthusiastic and motivated atmosphere in the team
• Provide support to all department staff where assistance is needed and reflect a positive, enthusiastic “can do” approach
• Protect all company inventory and equipment through proper handling and security procedures at all times
• Promote the Photo Department through onboard functions (VIP party, Latitudes party, Photo events etc.) and by way of positive guest interactions whenever in public areas
• Construct positive working relationships with other department heads onboard, and liaise with them to assist with guest service requests, internal activities and cross-promotions and photo coverage/opportunities
• Follow trained departmental and shipboard environmental rules and regulations, including use of Personal Protective Equipment, when working (or training/assisting other team members) in the Photo Lab
• Follow all required Outbreak Prevention Plan requirements, and ensure all team members follow current procedures when on duty
• Ensure departmental compliance to all hotel practices and shipboard policies by reporting to the department head any non-compliant practices
• Maintain familiarity with the Safety and Environmental Management System and all applicable shipboard and department Standard Operating Procedures, and ensure the adherence of all Photo Department operations to these standards
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed by the immediate supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
• Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.




Minimum experience and qualification requirements for position:
  • fluent English.
  • Minimum one year experience as a photographer is required.
  • Minimum one year experience as a shipboard photographer is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; and MXP are required.
  • Basic knowledge and experience to operate other advanced computer systems, touch-screen kiosks and perform basic computer troubleshooting procedures is preferred.

Contract length: 6 months on / 2 months off
